ABOUT TREE PRUNING

Pruning is an intentional process of removing parts of a tree to improve its overall strength and health, and is a critical part of a long-term management plan.

Trees need regular care and maintenance just like we do. Some trees require more frequent visits, whereas others require pruning less often. When a tree is young, it needs guidance and training to develop healthy growth habits. As trees mature, we can adjust their structure and help them reach their full potential.

Just like us, time takes its toll on trees too. An older tree may have more dead wood, cavities, decay pockets or cracked branches. Our arborists can address many of these issues to prolong your tree's life until it is time to have it removed.

Thornton Tree Solutions is owned and operated by Matt Thornton — a fully insured ISA-certified arborist and ArborCanada-certified chainsaw technician who brings over 15 years of industry experience to your trees, having worked in both the private and municipal sectors before starting his own business.

Born and raised in Buckhorn, Matt now resides in Peterborough and takes any chance he can get to be in the woods. Matt is passionate about the health and longevity of your trees, cares about your property, and prides himself on doing good work — and his crew is rooted in the same soil.
