Tree PruninG
Pruning is a process and is a critical part of a long-term management plan. Our trees need regular care and maintenance just like us. Some trees require more frequent visits, whereas others require pruning less often. When a tree is young, it needs guidance and training to develop healthy growth habits. As trees mature, we can adjust their structure and help them reach their full potential. A properly pruned tree is more prepared to endure whatever Mother Nature throws their way. Just like us, time takes its toll on trees too. An older tree may have more dead wood, cavities, decay pockets or cracked branches. Our arborists can address many of these issues to prolong your tree's life until it is time to have it removed.
Tree Removal
Generally, tree removal is a last resort. If your tree has sustained heavy damage from a storm or has a major defect and pruning is not an option, then removal may be the next step. Additionally, if your tree is growing in an inconvenient location or has simply reached the end of its life cycle, a hazardous tree should be removed. As some tree removals can be more dangerous than others, advanced techniques and tools may be required. Whether your project is simple and straightforward or is complex and technical, Thornton Tree Solutions has the skills and experience to do the job safely and efficiently.
Cabling/ Bracing
A tree cable is a support system that reduces stress on a defective part of a tree. When employed in conjunction with pruning techniques, a cable can be a great way to maintain a tree that may otherwise need to be removed. Thornton Tree Solutions can advise you if your tree is a good candidate for a cable support system.
A brace is a length of threaded rod that is drilled through the tree where it is at risk of splitting apart. The rod is capped with hardware on either end to “bolt” the split together. Effective bracing is usually done with two or more rods and is best employed as part of a maintenance plan including pruning and cabling. The experts at Thornton Tree Solutions will gladly advise if this is the right plan for your tree.
Stump Grinding
Your tree has been safely removed, and now you're left with a stump in your yard. You can keep dodging it with your lawn mower, or Thornton Tree Solutions can grind it and dispose of the debris. Once cleared, clients can choose to have us leave the site as is, or we can top dress and seed the stump location as a premium service. With a little water and sun, you’ll be left with a fresh green space to enjoy, or maybe you’d like a new tree planted to replace the old.
Tree Planting
The best way to give your new tree a long, full life is to have the pros at Thornton Tree Solutions do the planting. There is a long list of defects that come with poor planting practice and many of them don’t show up for years down the road and often after anything can be done about them. This is why attention to detail and the knowledge of an experienced arborist are critical to your tree’s longevity. We will help you select the right tree for the location, source high quality stock and install it in accordance with industry best practice. Once the tree is in the ground, after care instructions will be provided to ensure your tree's best start.
